In this Staycation style tour, we will explore this idyllic region in depth, and at a slower pace, savoring art, architecture, history, and Provencal cuisine.

Day One
Overnight: Aix en-Provence
Bonjour et bienvenue! We will meet at our hotel today and take an orientation stroll, followed by a visit to a perfume workshop and an introductory group dinner together at a very French bistrot.

Overnight: Aix en-Provence
This morning we will experience Provencal cuisine with a visit to the local market and a food walking tour, during which you can savor the many sumptuous offerings of Aix. You will have the afternoon free to explore on your own.

Overnight: Villeneuve-lès-Avignon
Today we tour Château de la Coste modern sculpture park with a local guide to learn about the continued inspiration that motivates artists in the current cultural scene to create and evolve their projects while reveling in the beautiful natural landscape of the park. This is followed by a scrumptious lunch together. This afternoon the group moves on to our hotel in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon for the rest of the tour.

Overnight: Villeneuve-lès-Avignon
We begin our day with a visit to the winery estate of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. After we tour the estate and learn about the wine production in this region we will enjoy a gourmet tasting menu that pairs the fresh local ingredients with the wines to show the best of both. Once we have enjoyed our fill we will return to Avignon and learn about the history of the Avignon papacy.

Overnight: Villeneuve-lès-Avignon
So many exciting offerings from Provence today. First, a visit to the St Remy de Provence market, followed by lunch in Arles, the home of Vincent Van Gogh. How many corners of the town can we spot that may have inspired his paintings? There are even some ancient Roman sights along the way to enjoy.

Overnight: Villeneuve-lès-Avignon
Today we will visit the villages Gordes, Roussillon and Bonnieux. Each of these villages brings its own unique charm to the table, making them perfect for a day of exploration. We will wander through Gordes’ stone streets, marvel at Roussillon’s ochre cliffs, and enjoy the panoramic vistas from Bonnieux. This evening we will gather for a farewell dinner.

Overnight: Villeneuve-lès-Avignon
For our final full day we have a visit to the market of Eygalieres and a gourmet Provencal cooking class followed by lunch. Tonight we enjoy our farewell dinner together.

The tour is over after breakfast and your guide will be available this morning to assist you with transfer to the airport or wherever your travels take you.
Nina was born in Denmark and moved to the south of France in 1993, where she still lives today. With a background in cinema and languages, she studied Scandinavian and French literature while working as a translator and bookstore assistant. A lifelong traveler, Nina’s passion for tourism began with a childhood trip to Mallorca and has since taken her across Europe, the U.S., and beyond.
She began guiding in Provence in 1994 and now also works in Scandinavia. Her interests include Van Gogh, Roman history, literature, and the arts. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, music, and the seaside.
Price: $4450 (Air not included) per person for a double occupancy room. Single Supplement is $490. We welcome singles and if you do not have a travel partner, please sign up for a single spot. In the event that a roommate is found, your booking can be changed to a double before final payment is due.
What’s included: 7 breakfasts, 5 lunches, 4 dinners, and 7 nights lodging in clean, comfortable, and centrally-located accommodations. All admissions and fees for group activities. Transport within the tour (including internal flights) and private guides, tips included.
Deposit Policy: A non-refundable deposit of $600 per person is due upon booking.
Tour begins in Aix-en-Provence and ends in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. The nearest international airports are Nimes (FNI) and Marseille (MRS), but the area is well connected to fast trains to Paris (CDG).
