Lavender fields, sun-drenched Roman ruins, chilled rosé on a summer evening, these are the visions of Provence. But what if there was more to it? In this Staycation style tour, we will explore this idyllic region in depth, and at a slower pace, savoring art, architecture, history, and Provencal cuisine.
This tour is a cut above our normal offerings, staying at a luxurious chateau and enjoying quality food experiences. Our maximum group size will be 15 guests. This is a new itinerary, and the following is subject to change.

Day 1 – June 21 Tuesday – Aix-en-Provence
Meet at our hotel at 16:00. Bienvenue! We will meet at our hotel today and take an orientation stroll, followed by a very French bistrot dinner together.
Hotel Aquabella– 3 nights
Day 2 – June 22 Wednesday –Aix-en-Provence
Today we will explore the history of Aix. Enjoy a morning city walk including the cathedral, city centre, the daily market. In the afternoon we will learn about the art of Cezanne.
Day 3 – June 21 Thursday Marseille & Cassis
We start our day with a visit to the Bustling port city of Marseille , checking out the old harbour and the Panier quarter, and a drive to a view point at Notre Dame de la Garde, with lunch in Goudes. In the afternoon, we will hit the coast at the charming village of Cassis, and explore their famous calanqes on a boat.
Day 4 – June 24 Friday departure Aix – Luberon villages
We will explore the villages of the Luberon region today, which may include Lourmarin (castle, charming village, market on Fridays), and Menerbes. Later, we will settle in to our own countryside chateau.
Hotel: Château de Varennes – 6 nights
Day 5 – June 25 Saturday – Arles
Saturday morning is always busy in Arles, with their justifiably famous Saturday market. We will take some time to check out what’s on offer, and then tour the heart of the city. Vincent Van Gogh called Arles home, and this afternoon we will channel our inner impressionist and create art with local artists.
Day 6 June 26 Sunday – Avignon, Pont du Gard, Uzès
This morning we will explore Avignon and the famous Pope’s Palace. After a lunch break, we will visit the most famous Roman aqueduct, Pont du Gard, and learn about the Romans in France.
Day 7 – June 27 Monday – Alpilles
Our wanderings will take us to St Rémy-de-Provence, and we will enjoy anolive oil tasting in a mill.
Day 8 – June 28 Tuesday Vaison and Mont Ventoux
Vaison-la-Romaine, full of Roman history, will be out focus. The old town offers a market on Tuesdays, and if weather permits, we will have a picnic on the slopes of the Mont Ventoux.
Day 9 – June 29 Wednesday – Villeneuve-les-Avignon
Today’s adventure will be to Villeneuve-les Avignon and the garden of St André. In the evening, we will gather for our final meal together.
Day 10 – June 30 Thursday – Departure
Your guide will help you find your way to the airport or on to further adventures.

Price: $4200 (Air not included). Single Supplement is $800. We welcome singles and can try to pair you with another single to room with, but the single supplement will be required if we can’t.
What’s included: 3 dinners and 3 lunches (wine included), 9 nights lodging in a clean, comfortable, and centrally located hotel. All admissions and fees for group activities. Transport within the tour and private guides, tips included.
Deposit Policy: A non-refundable deposit of $600 per person is due upon booking. If your plans change, you may transfer your deposit to any other tour that we offer.
Tour begins in Aix-en-Provence and ends near Avignon. The nearest airport is Marseille (MRS) but the area is well connected to fast trains to Paris (CDG).
