At Adventures with Sarah, we offer elevated, unique, and personal travel experiences curated to be a cut above regular tours at an affordable price. We provide a diverse range of destinations and journeys designed by expert local guides who create itineraries based on years of firsthand knowledge and guest feedback. Our group size of 6-18 people enables us to stay at wonderful boutique & cozy lodgings, squeeze into grandma’s kitchen for a cooking lesson, hangout with winemakers in their little cellars and allows our guests more quality time with local guides, artisans and all the unique people we meet along our tours.
Our Story
We are a female-owned company that grew out of a vast, global network of friends who love travel and collaborating to design inspiring destinations. Sarah Murdoch is the founder and director. She worked as a tour guide and travel journalist for 25 years, first with Rick Steves and then as an independent tour operator for the past eight years.
In autumn 2018, Sarah collaborated with Andrew Villone and, over the course of several tours in Croatia, Italy, and Slovenia, Adventures with Sarah was born. We now run 30–40 tours per year. While Sarah’s specialty is Italy, our company encourages American travellers to explore more of the world, offering tours in Morocco, Thailand, Egypt, Jordan, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and beyond.
Adventures with Sarah offers elevated, unique and personal travel experiences at an affordable price.

Meet Our Founder
Sarah Murdoch spent 20 years researching and contributing to Rick Steves guidebooks and co-authored the first edition of Rick Steves Sicily, which received an Honorable Mention from the Society of American Travel Writers. Alongside her guiding work, she has built a strong audience through her writing (found on this website and via Substack), lectures, YouTube channel and across social media, using all platforms to foster a community of curious, engaged travelers.
During the pandemic, she founded Guide Collective, an online travel magazine and collaborative network for professional guides. Her popular lecture, “Packing Light and Right,” has helped thousands of travelers simplify their luggage and travel more comfortably.
Based in Seattle, Sarah spends several months each year abroad leading tours, researching new destinations, and continuing her work as a travel writer. When not on the road, she reads, knits, sews her own travel wardrobe, paints, gardens, cooks, and plans future journeys with her children, Lucca and Nicola.

Veronique “Vero” Savoye is a French native originally from Toulouse, southwestern France. By the time she turned 20 she had lived in several cities with her family and learned to appreciate the diversity of French regional cultures.
An American Studies major in college, Vero moved to Seattle, WA in 1996 and immersed herself in North American culture for more than two decades. France stayed on her mind: While in the USA she ran a successful French language training business offering French classes at all levels and travel preparation workshops.
In 2019 Vero relocated to France permanently and is now based in the historic and scenic Loire Valley, south of Paris. Today, under “France with Vero,” she continues sharing her love of la Belle France as a tour guide, a teacher and a writer.
Vero holds this truth as self-evident: Life is best enjoyed sitting at a (French) café, preferably “en terrasse” while people-watching.

George is a passionate Romanian tour guide who brings storytelling and connection to every journey. After a successful ten-year career in radio and television, he followed his dream and became a full-time guide in 2014 — a decision he calls the best of his life.
With a background as a seasoned news editor, George combines strong communication skills with a deep love for his country. He offers travelers a relaxed, personal experience that goes beyond the usual tourist spots. His tours focus on uncovering Romania’s hidden corners, engaging with locals, and exploring authentic customs and traditions.
Far from the typical guide with a flag and a crowd, George keeps things small, friendly, and stress-free — more like traveling with a group of friends than following a schedule.

Namaste! I’m Ankita — your storyteller, soul-searcher, and tour guide through the magic of India. For the past 9 years, I’ve been turning journeys into unforgettable experiences—welcoming travelers from around the world and showing them an India that goes far beyond guidebooks. Think hidden alleys in Old Delhi, chai that tastes like home, sunsets that feel spiritual, and stories that stay with you long after the trip ends.
Inspired by Eat Pray Love, I live by a slightly desi twist on the motto: Eat deeply. Pray mindfully. Travel wholeheartedly.
When I’m not curating immersive travel experiences, you’ll find me on a yoga mat—because yes, I’m also a certified yoga teacher, helping you slow down, breathe, and truly feel India. Through my journeys, I don’t just show you places—I help you connect with people, culture, and yourself.
Come for the monuments, stay for the magic. Let’s explore India together—one story, one bite, one soulful moment at a time.
