A new adventure is on the horizon! Adventures with Sarah is teaming up with Andrew Villone of Savor the Experience Tours to give you a taste of the Adriatic. This 13 day Adriatic tour will focus on enjoying food, wine and local culture, all at a leisurely pace. Enjoy the company and expertise of two experienced tour guides, Sarah and Andrew, and a small group of no more than 24.
From the beautiful reaches of the Adriatic Sea to the grand and storied towns such as Dubrovnik, Korcula and Kotor, the Taste of the Adriatic tour takes in historic cities, gorgeous islands, lush peninsulas, rural farmhouses and tucked away hill towns. All this while savoring local, fresh and delicious food & wine pairings on a daily basis.
The first part of the tour will be feature the stunning Kay of Kotor (Montenegro) where we’ll stay in perhaps the most picturesque spot in all of the Adriatic, the small Venetian town of Perast surrounded by mountains. In Croatia, we’ll visit the Dalmatian cities of Dubrovnik and Split but our focus will be on the islands of Korcula and Brac, wine growing regions and the Istrian peninsula famous for its wine, truffles, olive oil and Roman past.
This tour is not only built for foodies and wine aficionados, but for those who want to best experience the Adriatic’s natural beauty, stunning vistas, undiscovered history and charming seaside towns (minus the cruise ships). That is why we are offering this tour outside of the tourist season when the weather along the Adriatic is still warm but many of the tourists have already gone home. Whether your taste is in local culinary & wine traditions or in rich culture and fascinating histories (or both), this is the perfect tour to explore one of Europe’s most drop-dead gorgeous areas.
Why Go With Us?
Sarah and Andrew have been friends for almost 20 years, long before their tour guiding days. Sarah has worked as a tour guide and guidebook writer for Rick Steves since 2000 and has extensive knowledge of art, history, and architecture (her former profession) with a particular interest in Venetian and Byzantine history. Andrew has been leading small group culinary tours of Eastern Europe for many years, operating his own tour company and forming close relationships with winery owners, chefs and locals. He relocated his family to Slovenia and enjoys sharing his adopted culture with visitors. While their paths have taken them to different parts of Europe, they have always thought it would be fun to do a tour together, pulling from each other’s strengths. They both have an interest in taking travelers to lesser known parts of Europe, and developing a style of travel that is local, educational, fun and relaxing. After many chats over Slovenian wine, they decided to take the plunge and offer this unique itinerary. Come along for a grand adventure!
