Day 1 of the Morocco Adventure
We started our tour in Rabat, the sparkling clean capital city of Morocco. The king lives here, and it’s pretty clear from all of the investment in modern infrastructure and architecture. Today was Eid, an important holiday in Islam, so the whole city took the day off and put on their best to go out for a stroll.
My partner in crime is again the lovely Mouna, my Moroccan sister. We have all kinds of fun plans ready for the group. And what a group it is! Out of 10 guests, 6 have traveled with me on at least two tours previously, making this much more like an adventure with friends than two weeks of work. I am a lucky girl. Yalla!

Day 4 of the Morocco Adventure!
Today we spent our time wandering through the souk of Fez, which is famous for traditional artisans. Fez is such an ancient and fascinating place, and also a fun place to do a little shopping.

We’ve been out of range for a couple of days, hitting the dunes of the Sahara. This corner of Morocco, right on the Algerian border, has some of the most spectacular pieces of the Sahara.
We explored in 4×4 vehicles, visited a garden, had tea with nomads, walked along the dunes, listened to local music and had a great lunch.
In the evening, we set off on our camels to our desert camp where we slept in luxury tents and saw a million stars. A magical day, one of the best on any tour I offer.

Morocco last days, Sahara to Ouerzazate.
We left the desert and drove to central Morocco. Along the way we strolled through a beautiful gorge and ate more tagine. We visited Ait Benhaddou, a beautiful ancient city used as a backdrop for many movies.
May 14
We have spent three marvelous days in Marrakech.
This is the ultimate market city, with a souq (market) of a million tiny alleys and shops. It’s almost sensory overload, so many pretty things to buy, and every shop owner looking not just for a sale, but also a conversation.
Moroccans are my favorite people to bargain with, it’s such a fun social interaction even for those of us who are shy about it.
At night, Jemma Al Fna Square becomes a hive of activity, with pop-up restaurants, snake charmers, monkeys on a leash, and all the juice you can drink. Three days never feels like enough in this vibrant city.
